This Is Millom
Cold Bath Millom is a strange town. In some ways it is more like a Welsh mining town than Lakeland. It has some of the most stunning landscapes in the lake district, an amazing estuary and an extraordinary profligacy of birdlife (with its own RSPB sanctuary).

Yet it has never quite recovered from the loss of its dominant industries: a huge iron mine complex and an ironworks. It has become a holiday destination but mainly on the beach side caravan and chalet sites. It is a town looking for a future. In that it is probably much like the rest of Britain.
